Quick Fixes to Improve Productivity

When you’re running a business there is always so much that needs to be done. Being productive means being efficient but sometimes being in ‘the zone’ just doesn’t flow easily. Here are some quick fixes that are a great start to increase your productivity starting NOW!

To Do Lists

Creating a daily to do list will give you focus

Clients of ours will tell you that Emma loves a list. If you hold your to do list in head chances are you’ll feel overwhelmed with everything.

Every Monday morning Emma starts with a cup of tea and writes down everything that needs to be done whether that’s for that day, week, or month. Sometimes this list can be incredibly daunting so the list is then broken down into what must be done that day. By doing this it enables you to focus on a handful of tasks without feeling completely overwhelmed.

Learn to Delegate

Delegating can be a struggle to business owners. If you delegate correctly you’ll have more time to focus on the thing, you really need to do or 6 take some time off for yourself to some self care. Don’t be afraid to ask for help!

Turn off Distractions

Avoid picking your phone up all the time!

We don’t need to tell you that your phone is probably your greatest distraction. The pull to check either your business or personal social media can be huge! Getting alerts and notifications can be the biggest productivity killer. Try putting your phone on to Do Not Disturb or flight mode for just an hour allows you to focus on one particular task.

Be Realistic

We’ve just discovered Steve Olenski’s Two Minute Rule. If you know a task that can take two minutes or less, do it immediately. Olenski believes by doing these tasks straight away, it will save time in the long run.

Be careful when estimating how long a task will take you – time races past faster than any of us realise. Allow longer than you anticipate for some tasks and you’ll be surprised how quickly they get done when you’re on a self imposed deadline!
