I’m sat here in an unseasonably mild November, thinking about the year gone by. This is always one of my favourite blog posts to write because it’s not often we stop and take stock of everything that’s happened in business.
Our word of the year was ‘Journey’.
Now, I know – it’s a bit of a cliché. And I’m not usually a fan of that phrase, “Oh, it’s been a journey!” But honestly? This year, it really has.
🎉 The Biggest Journey of All…
I still can’t quite believe I’m writing this… but we celebrated 10 years in business this October.
Ten years ago, I didn’t even know what a Virtual Assistant was. Back then, when I went networking, people would look confused – they couldn’t understand how I could help their business if I wasn’t sat in their office. Fast forward to the Covid years and remote working became the norm.
Now?
I run multiple businesses.
I support some incredible business owners.
And I’ve built a life that means I can take a random Tuesday off and spend it in Wales if I fancy it.
It hasn’t always been easy, but I am beyond grateful.
📣 A Bit of Buzz
We had some brilliant PR this year, thanks to the lovely team at Carnsight Communications – including being invited to write an opinion piece, which was a real “pinch me” moment.
People kept asking how we were celebrating 10 years. There wasn’t a big party or swanky soirée, but I did send out a little surprise… a batch of scratch cards to clients past and present and to those who have been part of this journey.
It sparked some lovely conversations and was way more “us” than another branded notebook or pen destined for the drawer.
💼 A Full Circle Moment
Another milestone this year was welcoming eight new clients, but one in particular really stood out.
I originally met one of the co-founders about four years ago when I delivered a talk at a conference. We had a few conversations, but at the time, I told them honestly that what they really needed was an employee—not a VA. It would have been more cost-effective based on the volume of work.
This year, after a shake-up in the business, they got back in touch.
They said they’d been watching what we were up to on LinkedIn and reading our newsletters ever since. And now? We’re working together.
That moment of honesty and integrity came back full circle – and it’s exactly the kind of relationship I love to build in business.
To everyone who has supported us – not just in 2025, but throughout the past decade – thank you.
We wouldn’t be here without you.
Here’s to an incredible 2026!
Let’s see where the next part of the journey takes us. 🚀
